WELL DONE to all Bedale Sharks who competed at the Hambleton Gala at Bedale Leisure Centre on Saturday 7th May 2016.
The gala involved the four Hambleton swimming clubs from Bedale, Northallerton, Thirsk and Stokesley. It is now a twice-yearly event for swimmers from the youngest age through to 12 years. It is designed to be a relaxed, informal occasion and is a great introduction to gala swimming.
The Bedale Sharks came fourth on this occasion, although the swimmers gave great performances both individually and in the relay events. Our total score was impacted by not being able to provide a full team, especially in the younger age group. Hopefully more swimmers might be persuaded to take part next time!
Timings and positions are shown in the attached table. There were some very good times and excellent results particularly in the relay events, where the swimmers proved how good they were at working together. For a number of swimmers this was their first experience of swimming at a gala and they should be really proud of their performances and the enthusiasm they showed for the event and for supporting their teammates.
Although only two Personal Bests are listed, this is because for most swimmers it was their first recorded events and for others the times we have are only for 50m events, rather than 25m events or relays. So in fact everyone got Personal Bests!
Bernie will work with swimmers over the next few weeks on any areas of development highlighted at the gala.
The photo shows everyone enjoyed a great swimming afternoon and being part of the Bedale Sharks team.
